Shelby Remakes 1997 Ford Mustang

The team at Shelby American has created a special one-off Shelby model based on a 1997 Ford Mustang for a customer in Texas.
Shelby American has an extensive history of creating one-off customer vehicles since during the 1960s. This time they reimagined the 1997 Mustang GT as if the company had built it new in 1997, on a customer request.
Joseph Tice of Central Texas owned a 1997 Mustang GT, but he wanted to do something unique with the car. So, he contacted the Shelby American to build a one-off car, as if there was a Shelby version offered that year. Tice wanted the car to look OEM, but feature contemporary technology and performance.
According to company’s Vice President of Operations Vince LaViolette, Shelby completely disassembled the car and began transforming it. No system was left untouched, from the interior to the new powertrain, suspension, brakes and cosmetics. The team hand built a supercharged 4.6-liter V8 engine engine, transformed the suspension and added an incredible braking system. The gearbox has been also rebuilt with a short throw shifter, an adjustable clutch quadrant, and an upgraded driveshaft.
In addition to the engine and transmission enhancements, the car also boasts new tires and wheels, a new hood, new paint and Shelby badging.
The interior is completely overhauled, too. The special one-off Shelby features new seats, carpet and dash pad as well as a new gauge pod and a CSM100SPECIAL badge.
