Volkswagen Introduced New 1.5-liter TSI 130PS Gasoline Engine

Volkswagen has introduced another version of the 1.5-liter petrol engine. The new unit is available for the Golf and Golf Variant, in Comfortline and Highline grades, along with the special Sound model.
This version of the 1.5-liter engine delivers 130PS (128hp) and 200Nm (148lb-ft) of torque and according to Volkswagen, it “impress with even quieter running and a level of pulling power even from low speeds that facilitates fuel-efficient driving in high gears.” The top speed is 210km/h (130mph). The new powertrain also features the Active Cylinder Management, a system that switches off two of the four cylinders, between 1,400 and 3,200 rpm, depending on the load. In this way too, fuel consumption and emissions are significantly reduced. The average fuel consumption is between 5.0 and 4.8 l/100 km (47-49 US mpg / 56-59 UK mpg), and CO2 emissions stand at 110-116 g/km.
The new engine also features a coasting function, with which by using the ‘eco-coasting’ feature the engine is completely turned off. At speeds of up to 130 km/h, working in combination with a dual clutch gearbox, the engine completely cuts out whenever the driver lifts off the accelerator. During this time, a lithium-ion battery provides the power necessary for the electrical equipment, such as the headlights, windscreen wipers, and audio system.
Prices for the Golf start at €23,725 and for the Golf Variant at €25,775 in combination with the six-speed manual gearbox, while the seven-speed dual clutch gearbox (DSG) starts at €25,725 for the Golf and €27,775 for the Golf Variant.
